I've participated in and at times led round-table critiques on poetry, fiction, and creative nonfiction for the past 8 years or so. I love the collaborative process and find giving feedback to others as helpful as receiving feedback. These experiences inspired me to become a tutor!
I Love Tutoring Because
I love the written language, and because I find it fulfilling to help people express themselves, find their voice, and be understood by others. Everyone has a story worth telling and a point of view that deserves to be understood—yes, even if it's "just" their perspective on some assigned reading, or "just" a research paper—and I'm honored to be able to help students tell their own stories and hone their voices.
