Tuition, Room, Board and Fees
Florida International University's Fall and Spring tuition and fees are $6,566 for in-state and $18,964 for out-of-state students. Compared with the national average cost of public in-state tuition of $9,687, Florida International University is more affordable. For students coming from out of state, the tuition is cheaper than the national average cost of public out-of-state tuition of $21,184. FIU's on-campus room and board fees are $10,956 for Fall and Spring. Room and board fees are the same for out-of-state students.
Note: The national average cost of public in-state and out-of-state tuition was reported by U.S. News & World Report.
Financial Aid
FIU is dedicated to keeping higher education accessible to all. That's why our financial aid office awards more than $180 million in financial aid each year. If you want a degree that lets you graduate with little to no debt and start your career sooner, FIU can help you make that happen.
FIU is consistently ranked in Kiplinger's Personal Finance magazine's "100 Best Values in Public Colleges." Our students pay less tuition up-front and carry less debt after graduation than the national average.
Most students don't pay the full cost of their tuition alone. About 89% of full-time undergraduate students at FIU receive some type of aid.
Financial aid can be broken into two groups: need-based and merit-based. Need-based is determined by your financial situation as calculated by your FAFSA application. Merit-based is determined by your test scores, GPA and other factors such as essays or achievements. Explore your options:

From The School
For four decades, FIU has been one of South Florida's anchor institutions, addressing some of the greatest challenges of our time. We are dedicated to enriching the lives of the local and global community. With a student body of more than 58,000, we are among the top 10 largest universities in the nation and have graduated more than 260,000 alumni.
At FIU, there are so many ways to be more than just a student. Panthers can join one or more of our 300-plus clubs, tailgate at an on-campus football game, visit one of our three museums, take in a concert or join a fraternity or sorority and go Greek. We encourage our students to get out there and become a member of the FIU family.

From The School
Location
Half sprawling city, half subtropical paradise, all progress. We're proud to call Miami our home. Miami is a dynamic hotspot for innovation and creation. This multilingual, multinational city puts the "international" in Florida International University.
But it doesn't stop there. Where others see challenges, we see opportunity. Our research and service efforts take aim at the unique issues Miami and the world face with climate change, the globalization of economies and major population shifts, to name a few.
Campus Facilities & Equipment
From the world's only undersea research lab to the only university-based hurricane simulator, you will get real-world experience at our unique centers, research labs and facilities.
Aquarius Reef Base
Aquarius Reef Base is the world's only undersea research laboratory. The FIU facility provides an ideal combination of research, education and outreach that is both vital and timely. Since Aquarius' deployment in 1993, Aquanauts and their support teams have used Aquarius to address critical challenges facing scientists and policymakers.
Wall of Wind
Home to one of only eight NSF-supported experimental facilities in the country, FIU's Wall of Wind is the only university-based simulator capable of producing Category 5 winds (157mph. and above). FIU's Wall of Wind is viewed as being potentially as effective for wind engineering as crash testing, which led to the development of airbags and other safety features.
Modesto A. Maidique Campus
FIU's main campus spans 342 acres. It's home to most of the university's school and colleges, as well as Ocean Bank and Convocation Center and Riccardo Silva Stadium. It features a variety of restaurants and residence options and a spacious, fully equipped recreation center in a lush, suburban setting.
Biscayne Bay Campus
This waterfront, 200-acre campus sits right on Biscayne Bay, offering unique adventure recreation and one-of-a-kind access to Florida's aquatic ecosystem. It's home to our journalism, communication, hospitality, and renowned creative writing programs.
Engineering Center
A two-mile shuttle ride from the Modesto A. Maidique Campus is our Engineering Center, FIU's 40-acre facility dedicated to innovation in the field of engineering. Home of the nationally recognized Wall of Wind, EC is a world-class research facility.
FIU in DC
FIU is based in Washington, D.C., to amplify the FIU voice in the national dialogue, as well as provide a one-of-a-kind learning experience to all who visit. FIU in DC hosts hundreds of FIU students each semester for academic, professional and experiential opportunities.

Off-Campus Opportunities
Today, FIU has two Miami-Dade County campuses in addition to academic locations in South Beach, Brickell, Coconut Grove, the Florida Keys and Broward County as well as sites in Qingdao and Tianjin, China. FIU's state-of-the-art research facilities include the Wall of Wind Research and Testing Facility, the largest and most powerful university research facility of its kind, and Aquarius Reef Base, the only undersea research laboratory in the world. FIU also supports artistic and cultural engagement through its three museums: the Patricia & Phillip Frost Art Museum, the Wolfsonian-FIU, and the Jewish Museum of Florida-FIU.
