What are the admissions requirements?
St. Joseph's College is a selective institution. Applicants are evaluated on an individual basis. The College enrolls students who are academically talented and diverse. Successful admissions candidates typically have:
- A high school diploma or its equivalent, or postsecondary transcripts.
- A personal statement or essay of recommendation.
- Standardized test scores that demonstrate the promise of success in college-level courses.
- Two letters of recommendation and a personal essay.
Students can obtain a copy of our application or also apply online, by visiting sjcny.edu/applynow.
When should I apply? When is the application deadline?
SJC admits students on a rolling basis, but there are scholarship priority dates. For the fall semester, the scholarship priority date is March 15 for freshmen and August 1 for transfer students. For the spring semester, the priority date is January 1 for both freshmen and transfer students.
What do I need to submit as a transfer student?
Applications can be submitted by mail or online. Transfer students should request that official transcripts from all former colleges, and a listing of courses in progress, be sent to our Office of Admissions. You are not required to submit a high school transcript if you have an A.A. degree or have successfully completed 24 or more credits from an accredited college. You may transfer a maximum of 64 credits if you have an A.A. degree; certain A.A.S. degrees are also transferable.
