Stetson University offers fast-paced MBA programs for working professionals on three of its four central Florida campuses. In broad strokes, the Stetson MBA is divided into the following areas: foundational course work (or prerequisite courses), advanced course work, and electives. Stetson’s is a general MBA, and students can tailor their education through elective courses in fields like decision science, finance, management, information technology, and marketing. In addition, the EMBA International Field experience program combines business visits with a consulting project and presentations to corporate leadership. Throughout the MBA course work, professors emphasize case studies and real world applications, giving students important skills they can take back to the workplace.

Stetson offers the MBA degree on their main campus in DeLand, as well as on their campuses in Celebration (Orlando) and Gulfport. In all locations, the school offers a “great class schedule” for working professionals, with MBA courses offered once a week in the evenings. While Stetson’s Professional MBA allows students to take as many courses as fit their schedule, the Accelerated MBA is both fast and efficient. Students who have already fulfilled the prerequisites can complete the program in just over a year by attending full-time. Even part-time students often finish the entire MBA in just two years of study. (Stetson will review an applicant’s undergraduate transcript to estimate how many prerequisite courses are required; often, students with an undergraduate degree in business are required to complete fewer courses.) In addition to the traditional MBA, Stetson offers a challenging, cohort-based, fifty-one-credit hour Executive MBA on the school’s Celebration campus that includes leadership courses and executive coaching. More than four years of work experience is required for this program. The school also offers a joint JD/MBA at Gulfport, which can be completed at lightening speed: just three years for both degrees, start to finish.

A recommendation in itself, many students come to Stetson’s graduate business program after completing their undergraduate degree at the college. Indeed, Stetson’s graduate programs retain many of the qualities—like intimacy and friendliness—that define the undergraduate experience. A particular advantage, the Stetson MBA is a relatively small program, giving students excellent access to their professors, and an emphasis on “one-on-one discussions.” Even more importantly, “the professors are excellent and outstanding mentors on campus,” providing insight and support to their students. While many professors are accomplished professionals, they are “dedicated to the educational services, not busy with their own research.” Course delivery is in-person (not online), but professors incorporate technology, using Blackboard software to post syllabi, assignments, grades, and, occasionally, discussion forums online.
